Biography of Asa Wright(1818-1883)-W4
Asa Wright(1818-1883)-W4
Birth: August 22nd, 1818 in Northampton, MA
Father: Joseph Wright(1778-1825)
Mother: Charlotte Dawes(1786-1846)
Married: Married Harriet Clark(1822-1894) on October 21st, 1845 in Northampton, MA
Children:
Francis Clark Wright(1849-1850)
David Joy Wright(1851-1908)
Charles Blake Wright(1855-1939)
Death: May 11th, 1883 in Northampton, MA
According to the Massachusetts Town and Vital Records, Asa Wright was born on August 22nd, 1818 in Northampton, MA. There is an alternate date of August 23rd, 1819 on his grave site. He was the 4th child (of Joseph Wright and Charlotte Dawes. The 1820 census shows him living with his parents in Northampton. His father died in 1825, and the 1830 census shows Asa living with his mother, 2 brothers and a sister.
Asa married Harriet Clark on October 21st, 1845 in Northampton, MA. His mother passed away in 1846. Their first child, Francis Clark Wright, was born on April 15th, 1849 in Williamsburg, MA and died almost a year later =on April 8th, 1850. The 1850 census shows Asa living with his wife in Northampton and working as a farmer.
Their second son, David Joy Wright was born on February 9th, 1851 in Northampton, MA. Their youngest child, Charles Black Wright was born on June 27th, 1855 in Northampton, MA and the 1860 census shows the family living together and Asa still working as a farmer. The 1865 Massachusetts census has Asa living with his wife and youngest son. There is no sign of David Joy.
The family is all together again in 1870. Asa is still working as a farmer. His personal estate is worth $5000 and his real estate is $3000. This 1873 Land ownership map shows where he was living at the time. I believe the property would have been located at what is now the corner of Laurel St and Grove St. The 1880 census lists Asa living with his wife, son David and David's wife, Jane Caroline Reed. He is now a farmer for the Northampton Lunatic Hospital. There is a possibility that he is living at the farmhouse on hospital property at what is now Village Hill Road and West Street.
By 1880, he was still working as a farmer, but living at 19 West St. with his son and daughter-in-law. He died on May 11th, 1882 of an epileptic coma in Northampton, MA. He is buried at Bridge Street Cemetery.

Biography of Rosa Amelia Whipple(1886-1960)-CR3
Rosa Amelia Whipple(1886-1960)-CR3
Birth: September 22nd, 1886 in Georgetown, IL
Father: Andrew Jackson Whipple(1847-1924)
Mother: Melinda Hannah Mitchell(1846-1916)
Married: Married John Francis Carey (1869-1954) on February 25th, 1905 in Westville, IL
Children:
Loretta Carey(1907-1995)
Thomas M Carey(1909-1995)
Marjorie A Carey(1911-1971)
William Vincent Carey(1914-1996)
John Francis Carey(1916-2000)
Mary Helen Carey(1919-2009)
Winifred Carey(1921-2016)
Joseph Edward Carey(1925-2009)
Michel Carey(1927-1927)
Death: September 29th, 1960 in Danville, IL
Rosa Amelia Whipple was born on September 22nd, 1886 likely in Georgetown, IL. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Whipple and Melinda Hannah Mitchell and was the 9th of 11 children. At age 13, in 1900, she is living with her parents and 7 siblings in Highland, IN. The census says she could read and write.
she married John Francis Carey on February 25th, 1905 in Westville, IL. Their first child, Loretta Carey(1907-1995) was born in 1907 and Thomas M. Carey(1909-1995) was born on May 23rd, 1909. By 1910, Rosa Amelia was living with her husband and 2 children on Clark Street in Georgetown, IL. Their second daughter, Marjorie A Carey(1911-1971) was born on September 26th, 1911 and their second son, William Vincent Carey(1914-1996) was born on March 15th, 1914. Margaret became Nun and changed her name to Rose Amelia. William became a Priest.
The family moved to Danville, IL, where John Francis Carey was born on February 8th, 1916. Mary Helen Carey was born on March 18th, 1919. The 1920 census has the family living at 615 Douglas Ave, Danville, IL. They own the house without a mortgage and Rosa Amelia lived here until her death.
The 1930 census shows the entire family listed as living at 615 Douglas Avenue as well as someone named Gaston Charles. Gaston was 62, from France, and listed as possibly being John Francis's father. I highly doubt this, and suspect he was just a lodger. In 1940, the family is still at the Douglas Street address. It includes Rosa, his husband and their children, William, Mary Helen, Winifred and Joseph. Mary Helen seems to be the only one working in the household. She is listed as being a teacher in the public schools. Rosa Amelia Whipple died on September 29th, 1960 in Danville. IL. She is buried in Resurrection Cemetery.
