Biography of Lydia Gleason(1779-1856), my Third Great Grandmother

Birth: November 13th, 1779 in North Oxford, MA

Father:  Ezekiel Gleason(1750-1837)

Mother: Esther Streeter(1754-1811)

Married:  Daniel Kilborne(1775-1825)  in 1805

Children:

Died: November 6th, 1856 in Tyringham, MA

Lydia was born on November 13th, 1779 in North Oxford, MA to Ezekiel Gleason and Esther Streeter.  She was the fourth of seven siblings. At some point the family moved to the Tyringham, Ma area. She married Daniel Kilborne in 1805. This was likely around Tyingham, MA but I have not found any documentation. Their first child, Eliza, was born on September 21st, 1805 in Washington MA, from then on their children were born in Tyingham, MA.  Hannah in 1807, Stephen in 1809, Alvira in 1812 and Lydia Edna on February 9th, 1814.  Stephen died on September 17th, 1811. The 1810 Cencus shows Daniel living in Tyingham with the following people:

• Free White Person-Male-Under 10: 1(Stephen)
• Free White Person-Males-26 thru 44: 1(Daniel)
• Free White Persons-Females-Under 10: 2(Eliza and Hannah)
• Free White Persons-Females-26 thru 44: 1(Lydia)

The next record I have found for her is the 1850 Census.  It shows her living with her daughter Eliza's family in Tyringham.  She is 72 years old.  She is still living with them in 1855, according to the 1855 Massachusetts Census.  She died of dysentary on November 6th, 1856 in  Tyringham, MA and is buried in the Tyringham Cemetery.
