The Putnam Family Reunion-Starting on the back row

Putnam Family Reunion, Houlton, ME-1922
Let jump to the back row of photo.

Back Left to Right
34. Fred Putnam, son of of Albert Temple Putnam and Cordelia W Putnam.  He was the father of Cordelia Putnam (#29) and Albert Putnam (#33).  He was my second cousin 3 times removed and would have been about 42 in the photo.
35. Charles P Barnes, Charles Putnam Barnes was the son of Francis Barnes and Isa Angeline Putnam. He married Annie Maud Richardson (#11) and 6 children.  Their two youngest, Margaret (#13) and Frances (#12) are in the picture.  He was the Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives and Chief Justice of the Maine Supreme Court. He was my first cousin, 3 times removed and would have been about 52 years old at the time of the photo.
36. Bernard Archibold, husband of Emma Ruth Putnam (#18).  They were the parents of Mary (#15), Ruth (#17A) and James (#32).  He worked as a lawyer, which may explain way his son went into law.  He was likely 41 at the time of the photo.
37. John O. Willey, Husband of Beatrice Putnam (#30).  He was about 31 when the phto was taken.
38. Varney Putnam-Uncle Henry’s Brother, son of Amos Putnam and Christina Wormwood.  He was my 2nd Great Granduncle and would have been about 83 in the photo.  The Henry they mentioned was likely his brother Henry Harrison Putnam who died in 1921.  It looks like the Oldest person in the photo was holding the youngest,  Benjie Putnam, who was probably not even a year old yet.
39. Benjie Pierce,  The youngest person in the photo, Benjamin Putnam Pierce was the son of Leonard Pierce and Anna W. Putnam (#25).  He was my second cousin, twice removed and would have been about 10 months old in the photo.
40. Clarence Pierce, father-in-law to Anna W. Putnam (#25) and grandfather to Leonard (#24), Jotham (#17), Francis (#27) and Benjamin (#39).  He would have been about 74 in the photo.

I'll add the last batch tomorrow.  After that I hope to figure a way to display how they are all related to each other.

31. Mae Cleveland,  don't know who this is.  I have yet to come across any Clevelands tied to the family.  I'll keep hunting and hopefully find the connection.

32. James Archibald,  son of of Bernard and Emma Putnam Archibold.  He was my 3rd cousin twice removed and would have be about 10 in the photo.   James eventually became a Supreme Court Justice for the State of Maine.

The Putnam Family Reunion Photo, the next 11 people

Putnam Family Reunion, Houlton, ME approximately 1922
Here is the next batch in the photo.  This took some effort due to the numbering and a child's missing name but I think I have it right.  When I'm all done with this I'll try and put a descendancy chart together to show how everyone is related.

11. Annie Barnes, wife of Charles Putnam Barnes, my 1st cousin, 3 times removed.  Her estimated age would have been 51.
11A. Friend of Jennie Putnam and Annie Barnes, Doesn't seem to be a relative
12. Child, Charles Barnes?, I do not think this was Charles as he died in 1917, five years before this photo was likely taken.  It is more likely his brother Francis "Frank" Barnes.  He is the son of Charles Putnam Barnes and Annie Barnes and would have been my second cousin, twice removed.  He would have been about 8 years old at the time of this photo.
13 Child, Margaret Barnes, Daughter of Charles Putnam Barnes and Annie Barnes and would have been my second cousin, twice removed.  She would have been about 11 years old at the time of this photo.
14. Gertrude McIntyre (Polly Gohr), daughter of Bert and Sally McIntyre.  My 2nd cousin, twice removed and would have been about 19 in this photo.  She married Edwin Gohr in 1927.
15. Mary Archibold, daughter of Bernard and Emma Putnam Archibold.  She was my 3rd cousin twice removed and would have be about 6 in the photo.
16. Alice Porter, sister to Sally Porter McIntyre.  She was my first cousin 3 times removed and would have be about 52 in the photo.
17. Jotham Pierce, son of Leonard and Anna Putnam Pierce.  He was my second cousin twice removed and would have been about 4 in the photo.
17A. Ruth Archibald?, this child wasn't labeled in the photo but given the age and some other factors I beleive it was Ruth Archibald.  daughter of Bernard and Emma Putnam Archibold.  She was my 3rd cousin twice removed and would have be about 8 in the photo.
18. Emma Putnam Archibald, wife of Bernard Archibald.  Emma Ruth Putnam was my second cousin 3 times removed and would have be about 38 years old in this photo.
19. Maria P. Burnham, the daughter of Amos and Christina Wormwood Putnam.  She was my 2nd Great Grandaunt and would have been about 76.  She died later in 1922.

The Putnam Family Reunion

Putnam Family Reunion, Houlton, ME approximately 1922
I have to admit I'm pretty excited about this post.  I found this photo in Dad's papers.  It is a photo of a Putnam family reunion that took place in the early 1920's based on the age of some of the people in the photo.  Someone, possibly Amos or Cora, has written who everyone was on the back.  There are some discrepancies in the first row, but this is genealogical gold.  I'll list who everyone is below and comment on how I am related to the ones I know.  This may take several posts to complete, as I am clipping out each person from the photo so you can get a better look.

Front Row, right to left

1. Ruth Hannigan, my 3rd cousin, once removed.  Daughter of Frederick Olanzo and Clara Hannigan.  She would have been about 13 in the photo.
2. Clara Hannigan, wife of Frederick Olanzo Hannigan, my 2rd cousin twice removed. Her estimated age in the photo is 38.
3. Cora Putnam, my Great Grandmother. She would have been about age 50.
4. Madge Putnam, Wife of my Great Uncle Frank Houlton Putnam, age 31.
5. Amos Weldon Putnam, Son of Frank Houlton Putnam and Madge Putnam, age 1.
6. Margaret Putnam, my Great Aunt, was married in 1924 so this photo was taken before that.  She was about 27 in the photo.

7. Joyce May Putnam, Daughter of Frank Houlton Putnam and Madge Putnam.  Joyce died in 1926 at the age of 5 and this is the only photo I've seen of her.  Here she was about 2.
8. Bella Putnam (Mrs. Mel), Wife of Mellen D. Putnam, my 1st cousin, 4 times removed.  She would have been about 57 in the photo.
9. Gertrude Putnam (Mrs. Harry), Wife of Harry L. Putnam, my 1st cousin, 3 times removed. She would have been about 58 in the photo.
10. Jennie Putnam (Mrs. Tom), Wife of Thomas Packard Putnam, my 1st cousin, 3 times removed, I believe Tom died before this photo was taken.  She would have been about 59 in the photo.
That's all I will cover for today.  The batch I will cover in the next post is where there is some confusion.  I will do my best to get it right, but apologize in advance for any screw ups.
