Captain John George Obermayer, The Carey Connection to the American Revolution

This post shows how my wife and daughter's can tie back tot he American Revolution and Captain John George Obermayer.

Captain John George Obermayer was born around October 27th, 1727 in Blankenlock, Germany. He immigrated to America in 1751 and settled in Pennsylvania.  When the revolution started, he joined up as a patriot and acted the Captain of the 6th Company of Col. Phillip Cole's 4th Battalion of the Pennsylvania Militia in 1776 and 1777.  He then was the Captain of the 3rd  Company, 1st Battalion of the Northumberland County Pennsylvania Malitia under Col. Kelley in 1778.

Instead of repeating it here, you can find a lot of information about his revolutionary war activities via his biography on find a grave.
