Edwards Church Membership group index cards

 In amongst some of the paperwork I got from my mother was a set of index cards.  Each one appears to be some sort of record of dues being paid but I had know idea what they were from.  Originally I thought they might have something to do with the store my Great Grandparents Merrick Smith and Catherine McCann but the dates and locations seem wrong.  After further research, I think it has to do with a group my Grandmother Florence Smith was part of tied to the Edwards Church in Northampton, MA.  Though these cards don't have much to do with the family, I feel like they may be useful for other genealogists and therefore I am going to work on transcribing them.  I'll enter them here and keep a full list on the Putnam Wright Chronicles site.  To get an idea of what the payments were worth, it looks like $0.25 in 1921 would be about $30 in 2022.

Genealogical source-A dog's registration record

This is a bit of a random post, but I found the registration document for one of the family dogs as I was going through some old papers  It has a bit of useful information so I thought I would share.

So, what can we learn from this:

The Family got an Irish Setter named Irish Prince Rufus (Prince) on March 20th, 1965.  Prince was the son of Cohansey Irisjman and Ricci's Lady Ginger and was born on December 31st, 1964.  The family was living at 13 Cragmere Rd. Wilminton, DE at the time.  The got my father's first initial wrong.

I've also found my Great Grandmother living with her daughter and son-in-law in the Houlton, ME.  They were on Page 18 of the Houlton, ME 2-61 report living at 45 Pleasant Street. Here is what I found.

• Fred C. Greaves is a 50 year old white male who was born in Maine. He worked 60 hours as the Houlton Town Manager the previous week,
• Margaret P. Greaves is a 52 year old white female who was born in Maine. She worked 38 hours the previous week as a teacher at the High School.
• Cora M. Carpenter is a 76 year old white female who was born in Maine.  She is widowed and is listed as doing house keeping.

I've also found my Father, Uncle and Grandparents living in the Northampton, MA.  They were on Page 7 of the Northampton, Massachusetts 8-76 report living at 24 Upland Lane. Here is what I found.

• Ervin E, Putnam is 56 year old white male who was born in Maine.  He works 40 hours a week as a X-Ray Technician at the U.S. Veterans Hospital.  He has a 4 year college degree and worked 52 weeks last year to make $2,000.  He is a World War I Veteran. 
• Mary G. Putnam is a 50 year old white female who was born in Massachusetts.  And is listed as doing housekeeping.
• Robert E. Putnam is a 22 year old white male who was born in Massachusetts and has never been married.  He is currently listed as not working.
• Richard D. Putnam is a 21 year old white male who was born in Massachusetts as has never been married.  He is currently looking for work, but is listed as a member of the U.S. Armed Services.

So, the 1950 Census data was released today.  Of course I had to go searching.  I found my Mother and Grandfather on Page 12 of the Northampton, Massachusetts 8-50 report. Here is what I found.

They were both living at 67 West St.  David is listed as David S. Wright, a 62 year old Widower.  He was morn in Massachusetts who was born in Massachusetts.  He is listed as a Teacher of Physics at the Public High School who worked 35 hours the previous week.  

My mother is listed as Florence C. Wright. She is the 19 year old daughter of  David who has never been married.  She work 10 hours the previous week as a Sales person at a Retail Department Store. I never new this about her, so that's a new fact.
