He was born in Northampton, MA on May 25, 1924 to the late David S. and Florence Wright. Charlie was a loving and devoted husband and father of five, and adored his nine grandchildren. He served in the Army Artillery during WWII as a staff sergeant in the Battery A 291st Field Artillery Battalion, serving in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he returned to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to complete his BS in Chemistry. He then earned his MS in Chemistry from Wesleyan University. He was employed by Hercules/Himont for the next 40-plus years as a Chemist with various responsibilities, receiving several patents for his work, including one for rocket fuel. Charlie served as the President of the Delaware chapter of the American Chemical Society. He supported the Red Cross with regular blood and platelet donations.
He is buried in Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.
